Leaving Ripon going south on highway 23.

Ripon, WisconsinJun 24, 20190 Comments

I was pulled over for doing 53 mph in a 35 when my speedometer read 40 and I was directly behind two other cars going the same speed. My wife was pulled over a few years ago as well under similar circumstances as she was leaving town to the north. I will never drive through nor spend another dime ever again in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Highway KK near Callan Road

Ripon, WisconsinSep 07, 20180 Comments

Police officer was apparently on side road with a radar device. Highway 23 was closed to thru traffic and sign directed traffic toward Highway KK. Upon reaching Highway KK, there were no detour signs to direct a driver where to go to regain connection to Highway 23, nor were there any speed limit signs. Upon reaching first road back to Highway 23 and traveling over 3 miles, discovered 23 was still closed to thru traffic despite no construction equipment in sight. Turning around and returning to KK, took next road to return to 23 and concurred the same and turned around again. This occurred two more times before reaching Callan Road where I was stopped by a police officer (Captain) who issued speeding citation. I explained situation and indicated no speed limit signs were noticed. The police officer was the only full time officer in the town’s police department. On the speeding citation, the officer did not indicate the right color of my vehicle. Since I was from out of town, I mailed my fine instead of returning in two months to defend myself and also incur traveling expenses on top of fine issued by a biased judge or jury. This was first time I had even been stopped by the police in 40 years. The GPS coordinates noted on the citation were 43.807813 and -88.793968. A few days later I was traveling in the opposite direction on the same road and I saw the same officer at about the same place in pursuit of another vehicle with his red and blue lights flashing. That was a clear indication to me that this was a normal routine speed trap staged without adequate speed and detour signs. Stay away from Ripon!

West Fond Du Lac Street near Mayparty Drive

Turned left off of Hwy 23 on to Fond Du Lac St heading toward Oshkosh. Ticket shows 778 ft. from the intersection. Black SUV police car was sitting on the left. Coming off 23 where speed limit is 35, Cop said there were 2 signs posting 25 mph limit, I didn’t see them, hammered the brakes when I finally did see one and it was too late. Got me for 39 in a 25. $175 ticket. Obvious speed trap. Last time I go or spend money in Ripon!

Hwy 23, east of Douglas street to the edge of town

This cop will sit in someones driveway! As you come into town & if you are not doing the 35MPH as posted on the big speed limit sign & you make a slight curve he has got you already. He’s not a friendly person period! You WILL get a ticket. This cop has NOTHING better to do than write tickets! Beware! He now has a light blue UNMARKED Ford Explorer!

South of town on Douglas Street

Ripon, WisconsinJun 15, 20130 Comments

Speed limit is 35 & is posted on Douglas Street south until you just get out of town. If you increase your speed after you go through intersection Hwy 23 & Douglas Street, you’re in trouble, because the blue police car will watching you as you come over the hill & by this time its too late. This guy has nothing better to do than write tickets & never gives anyone a break period! WATCH YOUR SPEED IN THE TOWN OF RIPON!
