Traveling West on Highway 23 at the edge of the city, the speed limit goes from 35 to 55. Don’t attempt to accelerate too soon. City officers sit on the last city road approximately 50 feet from the 55 mph sign.

As soon as you come to town the speed limit goes from 55 to 35 and then to 30 and in some places 25. This is a college town and the police inforce these limits. If you get a ticket, your name will be in the local paper, which can be whole newspaper page.
T of Ripon, Eastbound Hy 23 going towards Fond du Lac
Beware leaving the City of Ripon Eastbound towards Fond du Lac. The speed limit goes from 35 to 55 in a very short period of time. You think you’ve left the city because the curbing has gone away and you are almost back to farmland on either side, but you need to watch yourself in that transition area between 35 and 55. You would normally be thinking you should start to accelerate….you can, but you need to be aware the Town of Ripon PD is watching this area very closely.
