if you drive on this road coming from capital drive, watch out after you pass E Congress. They like to use unmarked cars like a gold impala (the one that got me)

Entire village

The entire one-square-mile village is a speed trap! Anytime, 24 hours a day, 2-3 police cruisers will prowl the streets with radar on. They spend most of their time on Capitol, Oakland, Lake, and Wilson. They will stop you for 5+ mph over the already low limits. They will follow you through the village, especially after 11 pm, turning where you turn, almost tailgating you, as if to intimidate you (into driving faster?) Shorewood police will also pull you over for any lights out, missing front license plate, lack of current registration sticker, or just for having an old beater car. And, if you’re black, you WILL be stopped, and the village has gotten local media attention because of this. An independent Milwaukee newspaper recently did a study and concluded that blacks were 40 times more likely than whites to be stopped by Shorewood Police! I lived in Shorewood for the first 34 years of my life, and it’s one of the reasons I moved out. I often work past 11 pm, and I simply grew tired of having to deal with this stress literally every night on the way home, despite the fact that I am white, I drive nice, well-maintained cars, and generally drive well within the limits of the law, at least in Shorewood.
