Spooner, Wisconsin Speed Traps

As you leave town police sit on the county road and by the gas station right where the speed limit changes from 25 to 55. They also sit at the church on the right side of the road before you get on the hwy leaving town.

There is a large turnout on the south side of Hwy 70 that is a favorite spot for both Spooner police and Wisconsin Hwy Patrol cars to sit, usually one facing each direction with radar pointed both ways. It’s situated near the crest of a hill at a slight bend in the highway and offers a great view for the squads yet is not apparent to drivers approaching from either direction. Beware! The limit in this area is only 55.

After departing Siren, 70 and 35 merge for a couple of miles. 2 miles North of Siren, 35 goes North and 70 goes East. From this point, 70 has many traps, especially 3 miles either side of Hertel and once you get within 5 miles of Spooner. From Spooner on to Stone Lake, there are again several areas that patrol cars hang out.
