Verona, Wisconsin Speed Traps

The entire road is 35mph and most people go 45mph-50mph on average. CTH PD is a road that runs perpendicular to CTH M and forms an intersection with it. CTH PD has a speed limit of 40mph with a lot of housing and businesses at both sides and many crossroad intersections on it, yet CTH M has a slower speed limit at 35mph with housing only possible on one side, as a pond is on the other side.

This has become a speed trap in the last five years or so when they lowered the speed limit to 25 miles per hour. Police lie in waiting day and night usually at the base of a hill where it’s easy to accidentally get going above the limit. I live in Verona and I would guess when I drive out on to Main street (business 18/151) they have a car  pulled over 20% of the time.

Unmarked cop car parks in a farm’s driveway (6458 Whalen Rd) on the north side of the road and suddenly you get stopped by a silver car. It’s just outside of town, basically a country road, and I advise anyone to pressure the property owner to stop enabling these leeches.

Anywhere in Verona is a speed trap, however, they mostly tag out of state cars and will pull over anyone driving at night who they feel is suspicious, regardless of speed. They are also particularily hard on High School students leaving class, basically setting up a camp right outside the parking lot of the school.
