Walworth, Wisconsin Speed Traps
up and down us hwy 14
First thing I am a strong supporter of the Police. This town hires their officers as revenue collectors they have gone as far as removing all the reflectors from their vehicles to make them invisible at night . Beware proceed with caution these guys will write you for 4 over the limit.
Walworth – Whole Town
This is simple. The whole town is a speed trap. I’ve never been stopped, beause I’m careful. Seems like most of the time I’m driving through I see the cops with someone pulled over. And they love HWY 67 on the South side of town with the quick speed limit changes and little warning.
HWY 14 exiting town south toward Illinois
Posted limit in town is 30 mph. As you leave and are in the wide open spaces a 55 mph sign appears in the distance. Natural tendency is to begin to speed up. If you begin to increase speed before the 55 mph, they’ll nab you (and it is technically their right to do that). Tickets are outrageously expensive. Since it was the end of the month and I was from out of state, I was a great target. This was only my third ticket in 30+ years of driving. Got my second one less than a year ago though!
Highway directly south of City, if in coming from Harvard Illinois.
Hide behind parked Semi Trailers on the right side if heading North right past the 30MPH sign. Speed limit drops from 55 directly to 30 in less then 2 tenths of a mile with no warnings or middle speeds such as 45, 35 down to 30. Mininum ticket is over $150. Officers claim this is because they have no court in their city, so I belive state handles their tickets.
