West end of town

I will now not stop for lunch in this town. This lazy airhead of a cop sits right at the 30mph sign. The speed signs drop fro 65 to 30 and you must brake to get there by reaching the sign. This is a disgrace to police enforcement and gives a bad rap to law enforcement.

Main Street

I have to defend Byron in this case. Living in a small town (pop. 550) on a main route to Yellowstone, our Main Street turns into a constant traffic jam from June through October. We all welcome tourists and love having everyone here. The problem is, because we are 80 miles from Yellowstone, the tourists just want to run as fast as they can to get through us to Yellowstone. The speed limit in town is 30mph because the local population crosses Main Street all the time to visit friends and get to the Post Office and local establishments. Most tourists obey the speed limit, but a lot just ignore it and ‘blow’ through our town at 45 to 50 mph. It’s not a trap, it’s an attempt to protect our citizens from the dangers of speeders through town. We follow the speed limit, and all we ask is that if you are visiting or passing through, that you respect the fact that we live here and you are just passing through.

HWY 14 heading west out of Bryon, WY

Wyoming resident, first time through Bryon and won’t be planning to ever come back. As leaving town, within several yards from 65mph speed limit sign, officer parked on side of east bond lane ticketed us for 40mph in a 30mph zone ($100). We had already passed through town. Seems very odd that there is no transitional zone from 30mph to 65mph when leaving town. That is a norm in other Wyoming towns. We are a cash straped family just returning from a two day local vacation which wasn’t even possible without cutting major financial corners. This one really hurt. Thank Bryon, WY.

Anywhere on Main Street

Do not even speed in this town, the whole place is a trap. ALWAYS be going the exact speed (not even 1 mph over) limit by the time you pass the Speed Limit sign. The speed limit in Byron is 30mph, if you set your cruise control at 25 through this town, you will never get a ticket. NEVER speed up until you pass the increased speed limit sign.

Either end of town on Wyoming Hwy 14A

Byron Wyoming is clearly a speed trap and local revenue generator. Speed limit declines rapidly, you must apply breaks, Officer is polite but seems selective. Police Vehicle is a Blue Ford 3/4 ton pick-up that sits on the road side. I suspect the officer needs to earn is own wages in this small town. Personally I think the town could generate more revenue with hospitality.
