State Route 22 West near W. Broadway Road

Jackson Hole, WyomingJun 16, 20060 Comments

On Route 22 just west of the Broadway intersection the Jackson police sit in wait next to the 30 mile an hour sign tucked in behind a mobile home parked on the side of the road. This speed limit is an unexpected reduction of the prevailing 35 mile an hour speed limit in the area. The 30 mile zone comes on you suddenly as you are turning and merging onto Route 22 West as you proceed out-of-town. The speed increases to 40 mile an hour in less than 2/10ths of a mile. The police radar shadow hits you before you even enter the 30 mile zone and you are mentally preparing to speed up into the 40 mile an hour zone. Watch Out!

State Highway 191 near Mile Marker 153

I have lived in Jackson Hole for 6 years and have not received any tickets but have had 3 verbal warnings for not totally stopping at our many in-town 4-way stops. This post is for all tourists heading our way. WHP patrols Hwy 191 through town and loves to ticket speeders, especially those with out of state tags. WHP also likes to make stops for cracked windshield, headlight out and expired registration. If you drive here, you must drive to protect your record, it is definitly a police town: fed, state, county and local. How do I know? I keep a scanner on at home. They are rabid about DUI — don’t even think about it. All town officers have cameras in their vehicles. Beware.
