Highway 380 east highway 84   Brownsfield, Texas

I was traveling from Roswell, New Mexico to Dallas along highway 380. Outside of Brownsfeild, Texas along the highway I was traveling in a safe and controlled manner. Then suddenly a state trooper arrived out of the opposite direction, made a u-turn in front of me and proceeded to pull me over. He then proceeded to ticket me for going just tweleve miles over the speed limit. Mind you this was on a road in a portion of the state where your lucky if you pass one car an hour and there can be up to a hundred miles between towns. Also the fine for this is already an excessive one-hundred dollars. But the cost for deferred adjudication is three-hundred dollars! That's three times the cost and to me proves that they don't care one bit about helping a motorist attempt to keep his driving record clean. It proves to me and a lawyer I retained to look into the matter that this is a classic speed trap where somebody is just interested in one thing. Money.
