FM 428 near the Denton County Line (Curve)   Celina, Texas

Between the new extension of the Dallas North Tollway and the Denton County line, police will sit in the ditch with lights off at night time or sit at what is known as the "policemen's curve" and clock the drivers over a mile away. At night time, they will ride behind you with no headlights for some distance to see what they can get you on. This as happened to a family member several times over a 3 week period. You don't even have to be speeding, if you have a light out on your license plate, they will pull you over.

289/Preston Road near County Line Road   Celina, Texas

From city of Celina to the Grayson/Collin County Line, roughly 10 miles, all times of day and night, always there. Posted speed limits are 55 to 60 MPH, heavily patrolled by City police and Texas highway patrol. They hide in low ditch or behind trees, lights off at night, and pull anyone over going even a little above speed limit. Outside of this rural 10 mile range the speed limits are 65 and 70 Mph, so it is very easy to miss this reduced speed limit area.

State Highway Texas 289 Preston Road near County Road 134 Road   Celina, Texas

Celina officers on motorcycles and in squad cars park up in trees alongside Texas 289 and also patrol the two-lane highway called Preston Road. Default state highway speed in the county is 65 mph but a four-mile stretch north of Celina was lowered to 55 mph; revenue is an obvious factor. Prevailing traffic speeds along Preston are still 65-70 mph (the legal speed before the limit was changed by the City Council.) Limit lowered just 5 mph south of Celina, but enforcement not as aggressive.

State Highway 289 near FM 455   Celina, Texas

Speed drops from 65 to 50 to 40 within about .25/.50 mile. Be very careful going over the hill heading north on 289. Police will sit in the bank parking lot and you cannot see them. During rush hour, they sit on both north and southbound shoulders.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
