The whole town!

Kennedale has had the reputation for being a speed trap since the 70’s.

Where else would you take a two lane highway, turn it into a 4 lane highway with center turn lane, and drop the limit 5MPH? Bus 287. Just outside of K-town and you are back to 55 and a two lane. The speed limits will go from 30 to 20 for no apparent reason, those are traps.

Police love to sit near the old Bloxom headquarters (287), Mansfield-Cardinal and Eden to watch for rolling stop, Fargo Bank, and radar up the hill from near Village Creek. Recently there is a lot of activity on the (287) access roads near Sublett.

Also they have a new color scheme, some are driving SUV’s with low profile lights that can be mistaken for a luggage rack on first pass.

Corner of Sublett and Wildcat Way (south end of Treepoint)

About half a mile on Sublett from Hwy 287 (going west) is the Kennedale City limit sign just before you go over a hill. Speed limit is 30 mph and as you go down the hill the Kennedale Police are waiting at the bottom, (corner of Sublett & Wildcat Way) usually sitting in the grass beside a church. I live 1 block away and in 5 years I’ve seen at least 100 people get stopped there. Trust me – when you top the hill be doing 30 mph or less. Two of my friends have received tickets there – one for 6 mph over and one for 8 mph over.

Anywhere along Bus 287 (Kennedale Pkwy) the officers hide in parking lots and will pull you over for 1 mph over! I am tired of contibuting to this city! Also, Little Rd. South of HWY 287, do the 30, they are hiding in parking lots and side streets to nail you.

Treepoint Drive near Little School Road

The trap is in the first block of Treepoint east of Little School Road, the 6300 block. (Treepoint is the first right off of Little, south of the 287 service road.) I’m an ex-prosecutor and don’t have much sympathy for much of what is said on this site, but this situation is just plain wrong. Here’s why: Kennedale is exactly one block – this block – wide at this point. Little School Road and points east are in Arlington. Treepoint west of this block is in Arlington. This block is four undivided lanes wide and only has two driveways entering it, neither of which is obscured, and yet the limit is only 30 and as many as five Kennedale Police units are sometimes lined up to chase down speeders. To suggest that this one block of Kennedale is so hazardous as to justify this level of enforcement is ludicrous: it’s a cherry patch, no more, no less. BTW, I didn’t get a ticket there but I am acquainted with people who live along Treepoint and who can testify to the situation.
