Brick Plant Rd.

South River, New JerseyOct 09, 20120 Comments

Local police sit, hide, sleep, whatever amass all around. A harmless road with almost no traffic. Clearly a revenue generator. Trucks are free to do whatever they want, but not the harmless auto driver. I stopped at William St. and let a pedestrian cross, then proceeded, and a cop still tried to insist that I didn’t come to a complete stop.

South River Bridge County Rt 535

South River, New JerseyOct 09, 20120 Comments

South River police hide in Laffin parking lot or on opposite side of road near a garage with lights off. Speed drops from 35 mph to 25 mph.

Reid Street near VFW Lodge

South River, New JerseyJun 21, 20080 Comments

They hide in the VFW parking lot, behind the bushes, so as you come from Main Street, around the bend they WILL nab you if you are going over 25 MPH! They do it at any time of the day so BEWARE!

Main Street near Devoe Street

South River, New JerseyJun 07, 20070 Comments

The cops hide in one of the Elks Club driveways or in the Elks Club parking lot next door (Elks Club is on the right hand side of the street just before Devoe Street if you are heading toward East Brunswick). It’s difficult to see them because of a hedge near the road. They frequently work in teams (radar car/chase car). A supervisor in a marked cop SUV is also sometimes involved. Word around town is that they hand out coupons for 1 or 2 miles an hour above the unrealistic 25 MPH speed limit.

Main Street near Laffin Chevrolet

South River, New JerseyJun 07, 20070 Comments

The cops sit in the driveway of Laffin Chevrolet (on your right if you are coming over the bridge from Sayreville) and ticket people who don’t slow down from the bridge speed (35 MPH) to the unrealistic Main Street South River speed limit of 25 MPH. Be aware that the speed limit changes from 35 MPH to 25 MPH while you are still on the section of the bridge nearest to South River (It’s clearly posted by a speed sign, so if they get you, you won’t beat the rap on the basis of the speed change not being posted.).
