U.S. 101, mid-way through town   Reedsport, Oregon

Not only did I observe a Sheriff's car pulling onto southbound 101 from State Highway 38, but at the top of the hill, another Sheriff's car was perpendicular to the road. They were monitoring speed, perhaps both going southbound, which is up a hill, and northbound, which is relatively flat until you reach the cop. They are better hidden going northbound, but southbound one would have to look ahead to notice. Plus, going northbound, if one doesn't notice the cop and picks up speed going downhill...zap! This was part of a Saturday night blitz in Reedsport, 4 Sheriff's cars (including these 2) from just south of town, who almost outnumbered the other vehicles I saw!

Throughout 101 hwy.   Reedsport, Oregon

Reedsport is about a mile to a mile and half long. They have traffic cops with both front and back radar equipment to tag drivers passing through to other locations.

The entire town of 4,000   Reedsport, Oregon

In early 2010, Reedsport added a city police officer to do nothing but traffic enforcement. The new hire was quickly approved by the City Council because the Chief of Police assured them that the officer would cost the city nothing -- because the entire salary and associated costs for the new officer would be paid for with traffic citations. So beware going through through this little town! There are varying speed limits that can be tricky -- and costly!

US Highway 38 near Mile Marker 24 thru 1   Reedsport, Oregon

From milepost 24 to milepost 1 is the most dangerous area of the highway. Most enforcement is done in this area as this is where the most passing lanes are located.

US Highway 101 near 18th Avenue   Reedsport, Oregon

Reedsport PD will back up to north side of restaurant located on Scholfield Hill at 18th Avenue and US 101. Officers will sometimes park at bottom this hill near a hair salon and enforce speed laws on vehicles coming down hill. Not uncommon for vehicles going 30 mph to gain speed coming down this hill and police to conduct stops on these vehicles.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
