Franklin, Indiana Speed Traps
US 31 S. of Franklin to Edinbugh
One Sheriff sits in the median between Franklin and Edinburgh and one sheriff roves back and fourth. As you pass the one in the median the other sheriff is in an unmarked explorer and will be heading towards you if you’re on a motorcycle. Watch out!
Branigan Road
West side of new high scool. They back in along side the walking path and are well hidden. Goes from 40 to 30 eastbound and this is right on the sign.
E. King is also Indiana Highway 44 Street near N. Forsythe Street
The speed limit for the entire extent of King St. is 20 mph. However, it used to be 30 mph, and the change happened after the railroad crossing and the bridge at the park were improved. The parallel streets’ limits are 30 mph, and that is normal for a city residential area. Between the intersection with Forsythe St. and (going west) the bridge over Hurricane Creek there is a park, but the foot traffic is light, and play areas are well-removed from the roadway. I had driven for 32 years without a speeding ticket or a warning until I was caught in this trap.
State Route 44
County sheriff is giving tickets within ten feet of the reduce speed to 45 sign from 55 limit. He also is hiding just over the crest of a small hill, which is unsafe for all. The road is design for 55mph limit — it used to be that, but has changed to the unreasonable 45mph and now is a speed trap. Watch out for SR 44 west of Franklin even past the SR 135 crossing to the Morgan County line!
