Phillipsburg, Kansas Speed Traps
1.5 blocks east of only stoplight
One particular part-time deputy sheriff routinely sits along street on weekends and nights in front of credit union facing west clocking as vehicles pass through stoplight in 20 mph zone. He would give his mom a ticket so if he pulls you over you are getting a ticket.
2 blocks west of only stoplight
Deputy Sheriff officers routinely park in bank parking lot on south side of street with message board showing time/temp/message during evenings/weekends and clock west bound traffic as they pass through stoplight in 20 mph zone. This also allows them to clock east bound traffic with rear facing radar as they enter town in a 30 mph zone.
Along US 183 on south end of town at KDOT yard
Deputy Sheriffs routinely sit in KDOT parking lot camouflaged alongside KDOT pickups facing north clocking south and north bound traffic on US 183 in a 45 mph zone. It’s a mile long 45 mph zone and you think you are outside of town. Be aware of your speed through here.
Hwy 36 in downtown Phillipsburg
the speed limit drops from 30 to 20 in the business district approximately 1 1/2 blocks East and West of the only stoplight in town. The officers are strict but fair and professional about their jobs.
