Covington, Tennessee Speed Traps
North of Covington on Highway 51
Leaving Covington city limits the speed limit increases from 45 to 55 after 1 mile the limit goes to 60 after 1.5 miles the limit goes to 65. After 1.5 miles the limit changes to 55. This speed limit reduction is after the city and industry area. The 55 limit stays for around 3.5 miles and the limit again changes to 65 for around 2 miles before changing again to 55 as you approach Ripley, TN. I observe more county and state officers in this 7 to 8 mile stretch of road than any non urban area in the country. Pay close attention or pay traffic school!
Old Brighton/Old Memphis Road near Mueller Brass Road
They sat somewhere between Smithville trailer park and a parking lot where Perico’s use to be. They can see you, but you can’t see them until it is too late. The speed limit drops from 45 to 30 when you cross the bridge just as you get to the city limits.
51 Bypass near Peebles parking lot
The speed limit changes from 55 to 45 and right after you see the 45 sign, there is an officer in a regular police vehicle waiting right around the curve. He did not give me a ticket but I don’t know if everyone is that lucky so just be aware.
