Tennessee, Tennessee Speed Traps
Interstate I40 near Interstate I40 – the whole state of TN
I’ve noted this solely due to the sheer magnitude of the enforcement.
I drove the length of I-40 through Tennessee, and there were no fewer than 40-50 troopers trying to pick up speeders (and I believe I am being conservative). In some stretches, there were police every couple miles.
Almost all of the cars seemed to be occupied, but they even went so far as to park ambulances in the turnarounds, presumably to startle people into slowing down.
The speed limit posted (70mph) is certainly fair, but more than once in crowded traffic there were close calls due to people unexpectedly hitting their brakes. These people weren’t excessively speeding, but it is a natural reaction. It seemed to me to be a ridiculous way to enforce the speed limit.
