Nickerson St. at 3rd Ave NW
Motorcycle cops sit in the parking lot of Seattle Pacific University just east of 3rd NW, hiding behind parked cars when school is in session. They get cars coming down the hill heading west in a 30 mph spped zone. The cops will only use this trap when it is clear and school is in session, as they need the parked cars to hide behind.

This description has some inaccuracies. I live near Nickerson St. and drive on it most every day so I know. The above description should refer to 3rd Ave W, not 3rd Ave NW. There is no 3rd Ave NW on this south side of the ship canal. 3rd Ave W, however, does form the eastern boundary of the SPU campus. But the only hill on Nickerson is west of the campus. The cops wait in a parking lot west (not east) of the campus, and they wait for cars heading east (not west) down the hill. It wouldn't make any sense for them to wait east of the campus since traffic speeds by that point are controlled by the traffic signal at 3rd Ave W. However, there are no traffic signals or stop signs from 3rd Ave. W west to 15th Ave. W, and so there have been many accidents and fatalities along that stretch over the years, causing some local businesses to refer to that stretch as The Nickerson Speedway. It's a lightweight speed trap that needs five times more cops in it. In some places my wife is afraid to turn left onto Nickerson because of the way cars come zooming dangerously into view.
