Bessemer, Alabama Speed Traps
700 Block Bessemer Super Hwy. N.
55mph to 40 in no time. Very short distance, you don’t even have time to slow down. I’ve been here all of my life and 55mph has always been the speed limit, but right where this camera sits, BAM! My ticket is for 55 because I had my cruise set. Imagine that.
I-20/59 East Just after I-459
Traveling East on I-20/59, As you enter the city of Bessemer you will see a over pass. on this over pass you will see a lone figure sitting on a motorcycle. As you pass under him you will notice he has a radar gun in one hand and a walkie talkie in the other. Then about 1/2 mile further up I-20/59 you will see 3 to 5 motorcycle cops sitting on the side of the road. as you pass, one will pull out, stop you and write you a ticket.
Pocahontas Rd. Towards Creek Trace Blvd., etc.
Along Pocahontas Road are curves/stores/ churches where cops sit and wait. There is this one cop that actually drives around and passes people illegally because they may be going to slow for him so he passes them in order to continue on Pocahontas Road to give a ticket. They sit off the side of roads and wait so you cannot see the cop until you just pass him.
Allison-Bonnett Memorial Dr
Hide to record speed, while using multiple cars to make stop. Allow only posted speed limits. If you’re black or teen, expect a drug check, even for no seat belt.
Davey Allison Blvd near Brooklane Drive
Davey Allison Boulevard, after traveling along this stretch of mostly straight road with 35MPH posted limit in Bessemer city limits you cross a railroad track and are in Hueytown. Hueytown’s portion of this road is only a short distance and is in a lightly populated mostly unimproved Industrial area with a ridiculous and ridgedly enforced 25 MPH speed limit.
