My father received a ticket in mail with video that did not show his actual speed. From video it appears he was the same speed as other vehicles traveling. This should be illegal.

Downtown Elba

Whoa! We went through downtown Elba (speed limit 25) on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. There were four cops, lights blazing, just having stopped four different cars in the downtown area. Have driven to 48 states, spent many hours as a road warrior, but NEVER seen anything like this. Be careful in Elba! I drive the speed limit, so was spared, but man, oh man!

I-65 & I-20/59 Junction

Birmingham, AlabamaSep 12, 20092 Comments

Interstate speeds have been lowered to 50 mph on all four arteries within the last mile leading into this junction. It is worked regularly by both marked & unmarked Alabama Highway Patrol, Jefferson Co. Sherrif & City of Birmingham Police. Highway patrol uses both Ford Crown Vics & Expeditions(usually unmarked); tpically unmarked vehicles are gray, silver or black. Trucks are a specific target due to numerous accidents & lost loads" around this junction. It’s called Malfuction Juction by locals for good reason."

The city of Vestavia Hills, south of Birmingham, employs police who park their cars in parking lots and gas stations during the early morning hours to ticket people who may be going 5 miles over the 25 mph road. The Vestavia Police are very agressive so be careful. They are not interested in your rights.

US Highway 280 & I-459

Officers consistently lie-in-wait right before the 459 interstate entrance headed towards Shelby County (Highway 280 South). Police are unforgiving and tend to stack" tickets. Be very careful in this area."
