Hwy 181, South from I-10.

Daphne, AlabamaSep 13, 20110 Comments

Hwy 181 (formerly Cty Rd 27) has been widened & repaved from Interstate 10 going South. It has been turned into a four lane for about 6 miles with plans to continue the widening project. The speed limit is now 45 MPH south from I-10 for about 14 miles, much of which had formerly been 55 MPH when it was two-lane.
State Troopers on a daily basis are sitting as well as patrolling this area in marked Ford cruisers & unmarked Chargers & Tahoe SUV’s. They have been seen sitting in the shadows on the shoulders, in the medians, and even in the turn lanes waiting.
Their presence has been heavy for at least six months and looks to continue.

Lawson & Canterbury Road (near Daphne HS)

From 181 to CR 13, Lawson Road is a speed trap. Police patrol daily for school zone violators, but also ticket anyone coming out of the subdivision without coming to a complete stop at the stop sign. Revenue enhancement is particularly vigorous at the end of the month. 😉

Park Road, between Hwy. 98 and Whispering Pines

Daphne, AlabamaApr 22, 20100 Comments

Park Road (used to be Park City Road) is a shortcut between Hwy. 98 and Hwy. 64. It becomes Pollard Road south of Whispering Pines Road. On the north end, the speed limit starts out as 35mph, then slows to 25mph, then to 15mph while traveling at a right angled turn in the road. Frequently manned late at night when people are trying to avoid the main roads. You can’t see the cops until it’s too late.
