Mobile, Alabama Speed Traps
West Mobile, Cottage Hill Road
Once in a blue moon the Mobile Police Department goes out to the Ladas Chevron on the corner of Cody and Cottage Hill Road. If you are heading home from school or work, the police will be sitting on the edge of the gas station by the tree’s waiting for you to come up. If you pass Hillcrest Road, heading out further into West Mobile pay attention. Once you get past the huge apartment complex on the right, there is a straight-away. This is where the cops nail you. You are ticketed long before you ever see a cop or have the chance to slow down. The police just motion for you to turn in the gas station like they are handing out candy. The one good piece of news is that the police do not ticket people going in the opposite direction.
On Lloyd’s lane which is off of cottage Hill Road between a Amsouth Bank and a Taco Bell
This speed trap is on Lloyd’s lane in between Charlestowne Subdivision and Southridge. Lloyd’s lane is off of cottage Hill Road between Amsouth Bank and Taco Bell. When you go down Lloyd’s lane heading towards Girby Road you will notice that there is a sharp S- curve once you are out of the S curve you should watch your speed as you climb the hill. There is a street called Lampwood Ct., which is where I used to live. The police put up traps there at least once a month if not twice a month, so be careful. The officer can shoot both ways so you are not covered by coming the opposite direction on Lloyd’s lane (30 M.P.H is the posted speed limit)
