37st sw

Generally photo radar but i have seen the other types. Between Glenmore and 17ave sw. The posted spped limit is 50km/h. This is a cash cow for them, so slow down.

17th Ave SW, between 14th St and Crowchild Trail.

Calgary, AlbertaJul 30, 20070 Comments

This stretch of 17th Ave SW is on a long hill with plenty of street parking for the photo radar vehicle to hide among the other parked cars. Speed limit here is 50km/h. 60km/h would be more appropriate, since it’s a four-lane route on a hill. Very lucrative for the city and provincial coffers.

Heading West on 17th Ave SW, just after crossing Crowchild Trail the cop is hidden on the right hand side at the next street corner.

16th NW Avenue near Bowness Road overpass, west of McMahon Stadium and University.

Calgary, AlbertaJul 04, 20070 Comments

16th Ave NW is the cross town route for HWY 1 (Trans Canada). Heading West to Banff traffic passes McMahon Stadium. The road passes Foot Hills Hosptial and begin a long downhill descent to the Bowness Road overpass. Speed limit descending the hill is 70 Km/hr. The speed drops to 50 Km/Hr (30 mph) immediately following the overpass. Local law enforcement sets up in the first side street at the corner of a local motor hotel. Police vehicles and vehicles being ticketed are hidden from view by a 6 foot fencen on the right hand side of the road that proceeds the speed trap. This trap is a favourite a least once a week, most weekends and especially on long weekends when there is steady stream of traffic exiting the city for the National Parks to the West of the City.
