Edmonton, Alberta Speed Traps
Yellowhead Trail Westbound just entering the city
The speed limit changes from 100Km/hr to 80Km/hr just before the 50 Street Overpass. The unmarked photo radar vehicle, usually a new Ford F150 truck is parked off to the left in a service area. This is the first of possibly 4 or 5 tickets you could receive driving through Edmonton on Yellowhead Trail. There are two permanent speed & Red Light cameras along this stretch of road too along with many of their other favourite mobile photo radar spots. This is likely one of the most heavily enforced stretches of road for speeding in the country. Even for drivers familiar with this road, it’s tough to speed through here as you have to really be on the lookout as they will use every hiding spot at their disposal.
Riverbend Road Eastbound Between 43 ave and 45 ave
There is usually a dark pick up truck with radar parked on the east side of the road. You will see flash light when it’s dark enough. My friend got caught twice there, and I am lucky enough to see the flash light before I pass the truck the only time I go there.
