Rural Road near Corona Del Sol High School just north of Ray Rd.
Usually a motorcycle cop will be sitting on the west side of the road just near alexander. Also Photo Radar vans have been seen there usually on the west side too in order to catch the speeders leaving the school. There is also a heavy presence of motorcycle officers on Knox Rd. east of rural.
Elliott Road near South 101 Elliott Exit Loop
After going south on 101 and Elliot exit, a van is parked on the north side of Elliot around the Motorola plant. There’s usually a board with a notice, but you don’t see it in time. They catch people turning right on red off 101(it’s a no-no). It’s a heavily used road; the speed limit is 45mph.
Rural Road near Arizona State University
Rural Rd. has become one giant speed trap from Southern up to the bridge over Tempe Town Lake, especially at night. Police on bikes will sit in clusters of 3 with one shooting Ka-band radar, single cruisers will camp out in parking lots with their radar guns on, and the volume of these traps is ridiculous after midnight. Often times there will be a trap set every block–if not more frequently than that! The only saving grace is that these police, by and large, do not understand the concept of instant-on radar–keep a good detector handy and you’ll see them from a mile away.
Grove Parkway near Kyrene Road
Multiple motorcycle cops illegally trespassing on church property to nail you with tickets. They use laser without tripods and balance their bikes between their legs making it impossible to get a good reading, but the judges will enforce it anyhow.
