Alhambra, California Speed Traps
I-10 between roughly Fremont and Rosemead offramps
CHP units assigned to this long, straight stretch of I-10 seem to have one mandate from their watch commander: Write as many tickets as possible. In the afternoon on the eastbound side, there are normally two CHP, an Explorer and a Crown Vic. Every time I drive through the area between 3 and 4:30 pm, they are either pulling someone over or have a car pulled over. I’ve seen the Explorer conclude a traffic stop, merge in and immediately pull another car over. Not sure what they are ticketing for (can’t be speed, as traffic in the area during rush hour averages 20 mph); they may be looking for picayune violations like cell phones or seat belts. I see a Dodge Charger CHP driving the express lanes in the morning that often has someone pulled over as well, presumably for violations of the toll lane rules.
South 710 Freeway Entrance
In the morning, as you enter the South 710 from Valley Blvd and approach the 10 Freeway junction, a motorcycle cop with a laser waits for speeders. Second time I’ve seen him in the same spot.
Garfield Ave. & Valley Blvd.
Two motorcycle cops were hiding on an alley next to Shell Gas Station & some Chinese Cafe to catch speeders. I saw them on 4/5/11 Tuesday around 3:00 PM. Gotta generate more revenues to avoid shutdown Alhambra Police Department.
Valley Blvd & 6th Street
Motorcycle COP always hide near the Fire Station in the morning & afternoon. So WATCH OUT!
Granada Ave and El Molino St south of Main St
Car or Motorcycle cop parks himself on the opposite side of the street looking west towards the stop sign on Granada, to catch traffic going north and failing to stop. There is a school up ahead, so it is good that this is being enforced.
