Atherton, California Speed Traps

@el Camino real in atherton. Motorcycle cop will sit at Isabella avenue and radar gun cars coming southbound on el camino. By the time you get to isabella, it’s too late. He radar-guns you well before you get there (it’s a long straight stretch of road). 35mph is the speed limit. This was at 1pm. Cop mentioned that he sits at a similar location along el camino to get folks going northbound.

Often seen parked on west side facing south in dark area off road under tall trees that line this street – 25mph limit. (accused of cell phone violation where there was no cell phone in the car!!)

Drive over 25 mph and get nailed by radar, lots of hiding places. Nice wide road with no traffic.

Police officer sits in west bound turn lane, facing north, left turn blinker on as if turning. This only occurs late at night (after 10pm or early morning in dark hours). This trap is for drivers traveling southbound on El Camino who cannot see the vehicle is an officer’s car because of the on-coming headlights. The vehicle appears to be a car waiting to turn left across traffic.
