Coronado, California Speed Traps
ALL OF CORONADO
The whole City is a Speed Trap, it’s an over funded Police Department with nothing better to do. Also be careful if you are not a US Citizen, they are one of the few Cities in San Diego that turn people over to Border Patrol if you don’t have your Papers in Hand
US Highway 75 near Old Toll Booths
Upon entering Coronado off of the bridge an CHP officer likes to sit just before where the old toll booths are. This trap is usually running at night when you don’t have time to see him but i’ve seen him at other times. The speed limit on the bridge is 50mph but no one drives it.
Orange Avenue
Usually when driving thru downtown, you might stumble upon a speed trap, primarily by the police station. Or if you’re heading south to Imperial Beach, there is generally a policeman waiting to get people around the Coronado Cays.
Coronado Bridge Street near Bridge
When you are getting off the bridge & getting on the bridge the speed is 25 now. There is usually (about 90% of the time) a cop on a motorcycle checking the radar if cars that are getting off & coming onto the bridge. Make sure you drive the speed limit for all of Coronado. The cops in Coronado have nothing better to do than to hand out tickets. Speeding is strictly enforced in all of Coronado!
Silver Strand Southbound
Radar equiped officers are on service road just south of State Beach hiding under overpass at Coronado Cays Blvd. As you travel Southbound on the Silver Strand, they are shooting you from the rear and you cannot see them at all until they pounce on you with a catch car ahead or dart out from the overpass to catch you. They sometimes post further south at the large "elephant cage" antenna and catch you as you round the curve.
