Hollister, California Speed Traps
156 West and Highway 25
Heading west on 156 after the stoplight on Hwy 25, at night, sits on a dirt road on the right. radar gun. people love to tailgate and I sped up and I got the ticket, they don’t ticket tailgaters and I do not understand that. I do not drive slow.
Hwy 156 between Hwy 25 and Union
Just over the hill heading toward San Jaun Batista from Hwy 25. CHP waits at the bottom of the hill in the evening, you can’t see him until it’s too late because of the curve as you come down the hill. CHP also waits directly across the Hwy in the morning in a very deep pull out, you can’t see him until you are right up on him.
4-Way Stop at Fairview & San Felipe Road near At Dunneville Market Road
CHP likes to hide in Dunneville Market’s parking lot to catch vehicles not coming to a complete stop at the stop signs.
Shore Road near San Felipe Road
There is a CHP that I’ve seen several times waiting around the curve on Shore Road between Lover’s Lane and San Felipe Road. His car is kind of tucked in behind a fence so he’s hard to spot in time to slow down. He uses radar and usually has someone pulled over.
State Highway 152 near Casa De Fruta Parkway
Hwy 152 has a stretch near Casa de Fruta / Hollister which has hills and high-speed turns. It is also heavily used by 18-wheeler trucks hauling freight. As a result, there are many places where it’s easy to pick up speed going downhill and go above the posted speed limit. Incidentally, speed limit signs are few and far in between. There are also many truck turnouts partially hidden by hillsides where CHP units have been known to hide.
