San Diego, California Speed Traps
I- 15 & Bernardo Center Dr
Be careful in the newly opened HOV/Fastrak lanes. CHP hides under the new overcrossings and is watching for both speed and HOV occupants/transponders. CHP also hides in the onramps from the new transit centers so that you whiz by the onramps and then he whizzes on down the ramp and catches you. Beware. I’ve seen them hiding from Bernardo Center all the way as far north as Center City Pkwy and they work in both directions. One of them was sitting at the top of the NB onramp from the Rancho Bernardo Transit Center.
I- 805 & Cam del Rio S
CHP motorcycle cop sits between the on-ramp traffic from the 8 and the 805 with radar gunning drivers coming off the overpass bridge. You won’t see him till it’s too late so beware.
Gold Coast Dr & Black Mountain Rd
places where the cop usually hides 1. hourclass park parking lot 2. apartment complex parking lot 3. side of the road
Ashford Street
The speed limit on Ashford USED to be 30, and was recently changed to 25. I was pulled over for doing 30, and was quite startled to learn that the limit had changed and I was now in violation.
Rancho Carmel Dr & Sellars Post Office Dy
CHP has SERIOUSLY stepped up patrolling the I-15 corridor in the last month or so… You enter the commuter lanes (or are already in the Commuter lanes) at Camino del Norte and there’s a right-hand curve going downhill. As you come around that curve there’s usually a motorcycle officer sitting there with a radar gun. Be patient until you get around the curve and on the flat section and you’re in the clear
