Sausalito, California Speed Traps
US Highway 101 near Exit Number Marin City
Northbound 101 downhill from the Waldo Tunnel to the Marin City exit. Favorite time: Sunday morning. Radar, multiple CHP along the side of the road. Favorite hiding place for radar is on the northbound Bridgeway entrance.
Bridgeway Avenue
Along Bridgeway from the center of the tourist district through to Easterby Street especially near the Flower Shop, all day long there are Sausalito Police speed traps. Also north nearer to Mollie Stones Market.
Bridgeway Avenue
Sausalito PD sit at the bottom of the hill of the street traveling South up the hill, behind a bush. Sometime without any running lights. Radaring north up Bridgeway
Bridgeway from the 101 to Princess Drive.
The road is hilly and the police typically sit at the bottom of the hills or watch from the safety of a, you guessed, shadey tree just around the corner. You can’t see them but they can sure see you.
Northbound on 101
North from San Francisco, over the golden gate bridge, through the tunnel, and then you come over and down a steep hill into a suddenly reduced speed limit and he’s at the bottom, waiting, on the right. You probably can’t even see him without craning your neck until he’s already pulled out and fired up his lights. All the locals know about the trap, but even they find it very difficult to slow fast enough safely on that slope to meet the ridiculous reduction in speed limit.
