Stockton, California Speed Traps
Motorcycle cop clocks you as you come up from the under pass. The speed limit is 30 so, slow down before you come out from the under pass. He has pulled over 2-3 cars at a time.
The area of concern is between Hiway 12 to the North and Eight Mile Road plus a couple of miles to Bear Creek to the South. Interstate 5 heading South goes from a two lane interstate to a three lane just before Hiway 12 all the way through Stockton. Typically the traffic enforcement is on the South but can grab people heading North as the Highway patrol is turning around at 8 mile road. There is a Highway patrol airplane directing the on the road officers and can report the speed to the bikes and cars waiting.
I live in Spanos West and the airplane likes to be up early on weekends typically on Sundays ~0730, and during late afternoon traffic. I’ve seen them nab quite a few folks and they’ll have three or four patrol cars on the ground writing.
I got stopped along with 2 other folks by a motorcycle cop 3 streets south of Harding Way. The cop had one person stopped and stood out in front of me to stop me. I was on my way to work and was doing about 9-10 miles over the posted 35mph speed limit. Everyvody flies through there in the mornings because its one of the main routes through town to get to the north side of Stockton! There is no easy way through town at all!
Location is in-between Wilson Way/Cherokee Rd Exit and Hammer Ln exit. I’ve often seen CHP sit along the frontage road on/off ramps and hide in the tall grass. They use radar, and is difficult to see them before it is too late. I was caught this way, and I’ve seen many other motorists fall tot his trap.
