Fairplay, Colorado Speed Traps
State Route 9 near US Highway 285
One patrolman in a bronco with radar that comes out of who knows were. The patrolman was very open about writing a ticket for a out of state driver. He in my opinion wrote the ticket for far more than I was going in order to bump up the fine. When he handed me the ticket he advised me that there is another speed trap in Alma just a few miles up the road.
Highway 9 coming into down from Breckenridge/ Alma
Coming down a long hill into town, the speed limit drops from 45 to 35 to 25 in such a short distance that it is very difficult to get slowed down enough. The police will clock you in the 45 zone and claim you were still going at least 45 when you hit the 25 zone, thus getting you for being 20 mph over the limit. The courthouse is full of people getting caught in this trap and the one in Alma, where the same thing happens with the quick speed changes.
I-285 by the bridge/hugh revien
