Yosemite Street near Union Road

Greenwood Village, ColoradoMay 24, 20070 Comments

This trap is set up on Union Road, inside the Denver Tech Center, between DTC Boulevard and Yosemite. This trap most frequently runs during the lunch times of nearby Cherry Creek High School, and in the 2:00-4:00 hours.

Although this is a four lane divided highway, the speed limit is kept at 25 miles per hour, and, when heading west, it’s impossible, due to the hill, to maintain that speed without riding your brakes.

Police will sit at a turnout around halfway down the hill and clock people going west (downhill). I have heard of tickets being issued for as little as two mph over the limit. Although the trap is designed to nail the affluent students coming out of Cherry Creek High, they’ll take anybody they can get.

Be very, very careful on this stretch of road, as the Greenwood Village Police have this trap down to a science.

Orchard and I-25 Street near Pedestrian Area on West Side

Greenwood Village, ColoradoAug 26, 20050 Comments

Motorcycle Cop sits in the Pedestrian crossing where Orchard meets I-25 on the west side. Hide to spot. Very unrealistic speed limit of 30mph in that section.

Arapahoe and Quebec

Mostly undercover cops. Black Dodge Intrepids are very common, also undercover Tahoes. Usually on Arapahoe E-bound right after Quebec. These cars also are often on County-Line right after Quebec.

Orchard Rd between Yosemite and Dayton

Greenwood Village, ColoradoJul 04, 20030 Comments

Foot officers have been known to hide behind trees with radar at the park on the top of the hill, then send the offenders to motorcycle cops at the bottom of the hill for as little as 2mph over. Often present after school lets out (~2pm).

Union Ave between DTC Blvd and Yosemite

Greenwood Village, ColoradoJun 16, 20030 Comments

This trap is right near Cherry Creek High School, and is most heavily manned during the 11am-1pm hours. The limit is 25mph for a 2 lane divided highway, and there are troopers both east and westbound. Often they sit on the inside of the curve, then just signal people over for as little as 2-3mph over the limit, knowing that the High-Schoolers can’t fight the ticket. Warnings are NOT issued, and this trap has cost many a young driver their license. Make sure to stay in VERY low gear, as you can’t coast down the hill without breaking 25. This is truly a vicious trap, watch yourself here…
