All along US-285
Speed limit is 60. In two separate counties, I had a Sheriff’s vehicle follow me for 25 miles each. That’s a long time to follow a vehicle. I never exceed speed limit, so I was not worried, but still it’s unnerving for cops to follow you for that long in two separate counties. Nasty people, I tell ya. I will never take 285 again.

US Highway 285 between Poncha Springs and Buena Vista
2-4 deputies at night run this stretch instead of county roads. Speed limit is 60mph and you will be stopped

On downhill side of Poncha pass.Speed limit 55,but is easy to get carried away.Watch for white Cherokee Jeeps and red Crown Vic.Red crown Vic is unmarked and stalks all over between Poncha,Salida,Buena Vista and Leadville.
