State Highway Route 34 near Liberty Road

Newtown, ConnecticutFeb 22, 20080 Comments

As you’re proceding down Rt 34 toward the Stevenson Dam area, there will be a cruiser parked on the right side of 34 in a private driveway! Evidently, the police must have this homeowner’s permission to idle there as it is indeed private property The problem is, you are cruising downhill and will tend to be travelling faster than the 35 mph limit. This is a looong downhill grade so unless you’re in the habit of getting a brake job every 2 weeks, technically you’ll be exceeding the speed limit. In all fairness, the cop is pretty cool and *might* let you off w/a warning…but every day is different….

Interstate 84 near Exit Number 40073

Newtown, ConnecticutJun 12, 20060 Comments

between exits 9 and 17 on interstate 84 in connecticut there is a moderate amount of police enforcement around with radar guns. They hide in little off-highway ditches and little dirt roads somewhat tucked behind the brush.

State Route 302 Sugar Street

Newtown, ConnecticutMar 28, 20061 Comments

Heading towards Newtown (Police Station, Rams Pasture, Main Street, etc) At the last turn before the really big farm fields (left) will be a marked cop car sitting before the bend on the right hand side catching people doing way over the under posted 40 mph on the really long straight a way before this said turn. Its hard to tell if there is a cop car there becuase of the random white reflectors on metal sticks on the same side of the road as the cop is. Making the reflective markings on a cop car and the road markers hard to decipher between. They run it 99% of the time at night. But I have seen them do it during AM rush hour…
