Lewes, Delaware Speed Traps

Don’t speed on this road that leads from Rt 1 down to Lewes Beach. The speed limit goes from 35 to 30 to 25 very quickly as well so watch out. Lewes PD has a large police force for such a small town and often have nothing more to do than catch you speeding. If it’s an emergency and your going to Bebee Medical Center you can put on your hazzards and speed and they will let you slide on a ticket.

When you get off the Cape May Lewes ferry, making a right out of the terminal, you get on a road that is 35 mph and is highly patroled. There are cops stationed up and down this road. The speed limit changes from 45 to 35 and back and forth, so you can lose track. This is where they wait. Then when you turn on to rt 9 heading through the town of Lewes 9 (heading toward rt 1) there are speed traps here as well, the speed limit is 35, do 35. At one point it even drops to 25. It’s easy to get pulled over here
