Alva, Florida Speed Traps
travelling SR 80 either direction before entering Alva (just west of La Belle, Fl), speed drops for the city and law enforcement works both ends of the 40 mph zone as it drops from 55 on one end and 60 on the other end
There is a sheriff’s deputy that drives a dark grey Ford superduty it’s brand new. In the morning he always sits about 2 miles east of S.R.31 in a side street that goes to a small subdivision. Or he will sit farther east down the road by the first set of big S curves heading east either in the ditch or in a driveway.
Later in the afternoon he sits down by cypress creek drive in that area and closer to Alva elementary/middle school.
There’s also a marked police car that sits in the entrance to the caloosahatchee regional park.
Another cop drives a truck like the one I described but its dark blue. They’re not that hard to spot that have a black grill, grey wheels, dark tinted windows, a yellow sheriff’s tag on the back, and the extra radio antennanas coming out of them._
(S.R.78 N. River Rd.)
At state road 80 snd old olga rd, cops like to sit there and laser the heck outta you._
Highway 80 recently 4 laned- speed drops to 45 from 60 in short stretch. Alva here is mostly undeveloped, and a driver would not notice that they are in a town and expect to slow down. Missing seeing the one lower speed limit sign from either east or west is a costly mistake. Both Lee County Sheriff and State Highway Patrol make lots of money here.
