Brooksville, Florida Speed Traps
Broad Street near Walmart
Between Wiscon Rd and Cortez Blvd on Broad Street/Hwy 41 across from Walmart, there is a 57 Chevy which is used as an advertisement. If you are traveling INTO Brooksville on Broad Street, the officers will sit in their car under the sign which is before the 57 Chevy in a parking lot. The speed on Broad street goes down from 55 to 45 right in front of the Ford dealership right before Wiscon Rd. Most people do not see the sign and continue on at 55. Officer will use either Radar OR LASER to estimate your speed and pull you over when you get to Cortez. The officer may pull you over and tell you he got you doing 55, then write the ticket for 55 but then put on the ticket (actual speed 59) or something around there as he did on mine. I was fortunate and got out of it because I had witnesses in the car and there was a large truck with trailer beside me between the officer and my vehicle.
