Fort Myers, Florida Speed Traps
business 41 bridge
FHP sit about 300 feet past the top of the bridge and radar you as you top the bridge.
International Airport in Fort Myers
Speed limit signs are posted on large yellow signs as one approaches the departure terminal. They start at 35 and then a short distance later as one starts up the ramp, the signs change to small white signs on a white wall. They drop to 20 and then to 10 mph. We were flagged over for 40 in a 20 zone. Very expensive, and certainly poorly marked. Ever hear of a warning ticket for out of state drivers?
Summerlin Road
Cops sit in the entrance to the School. Summerlin Rd is 50MPH, but it drops down to 40MPH for the school zone.
Colonial Road and Six Mile Cypress/I-75
State Troopers and FMPD love staying in the middle of the divider of colonial and six mile cypress at night with all lights turned off, looking for speeders in either direction.
On Six Mile Cypress between Colonial Blvd & Daniels Pkwy
Temporary 4 mile long construction zone southbound beginning just south of Winkler. 50 MPH limit reduced to 40 MPH. Police from Ft Myers & Lee County (4-6 cars) are difficult to see as they hide behind barrels and road signs at Heritage Palm entrance. Generally trap is manned daily for several hours. This is a true Speed Trap with double fines because of construction. It’s all about $$$$.
