Extension of State Road 836 at off ramp to NW 137th Ave.

Miami, FloridaFeb 24, 20100 Comments

As the extension of SR 836 (Dolphin Expressway) ends at NW 137th Avenue, the speed limit drops from 55 to 35 mph. The Miami-Dade motorcycle officers, using Lidar (Laser), enforce the 35 mph lower limit on a wide stretch of road where everyone travels at around 60 mph and lots of people are being written up for 65, and up, which triggers a mandatory court appearance. Motorists have to pay a toll to use the new SR 836 extension and on top of that, they get hit with very high-priced tickets. It’s a classic speed trap.

836 East Expressway near Florida’s N Bound Turnpike

Miami, FloridaSep 28, 20080 Comments

Florida Highway Patrol is stationed under the overpass right after the SunPass toll. For those who are familiar with the Kendall-Miami area, when heading North on the Turnpike, right before the NW 12th Street Exit, the right lane takes you towards 836 East Bound. About 2 miles in you will approach the SunPass toll, followed by the Speedtrap under the over pass about 1/4 of a mile. Speed limit is 55mph. They are hard to spot and its very easy to do well over 80+mph. I was clocked at 78mph (THANK GOD!) considering I was really doing 95mph. Hope this helps 🙂
