Rockledge, Florida Speed Traps
Barton Boulevard near Rockledge Drive
When you crest a mini-hill on Barton heading west (away from the Indian River Lagoon) off Rockledge Drive, there is a reduced 15 mph speed school zone in the morning and afternoon. Sadly this sign is often blocked by parked trucks and bushes. When you crest the hill at the sign the officers are ticketing directly at said sign (giving no opportunity to slow down even if you do see the poorly placed sign). In my case a child came over the peak of the hill on a skateboard followed by an SUV so I pulled over in my heavely laden 4 cylinder truck (just 50 feeet or so from the crest of the hill)to a stop…somehow, miracuously, I was ‘clocked’ doing 32 at the crest of the hill just a few feet after starting up again…I certainly accept and believe in low speed zones at schools but something strange is going on at this “speed trap””-Be Aware!

Barton Boulevard near fiske Boulevard
Watch the R turn signal going south on Fiske turning onto Barton. RPD sits close by there and wait for someone to turn right on the no turn signal that pops up.
Also on Barton turning R onto Fiske going South. Make a complete stop at the red light. They love to get ya there for not making a complete stop when turning Right.
Apparently they dont have anything better to do than sit at that intersection handing out r turn infractions.
Levitt Parkway near Murrell Road
Rockledge Police pull into driveways and use radar on cars coming around the curve in the road. They love this curve because they are hidden in either direction until it’s too late to slow down. Posted speed limit is 20 in a residential neighborhood.
US Highway 1 near Park Avenue
Going South out of Rockledge on US1 after you pass the last traffic light around Park Ave. Received a nice one around the 0530 time frame. Watch out they’re needing money!
Barton Boulevard near Fiske Boulevard
Anyone who travels through Rockledge knows the entire city prides itself on the unsuspecting motorist, however one area takes the cake for excessive ticketing. Barton Blvd. westbound past Fiske Blvd. is ridiculous! The speed limit changes from a moderate 40 mph which jumps to a crawling 25mph by merely passing through the intersection (Fiske Blvd.). The way this trap is set, you either have to slam on your brakes in the midst of the intersection of a 6 lane road or suffer the consequences. BE CAREFUL!
