Crews as of October 14th have been clearing all brush hiding any speed limit signs. It would appear after reading your post that these roads will be a new speed trap. Thanks love that little short. Lived in area for 23 years and watched all short cuts eliminated by speed humps road configuration changes or outright speed traps

Let me clue you in as to how to fight it. Measure the sign. MUTCD & FDOT Design Standard #17302 states they MUST be 7′ from pavement. Most are not. Measure distance from intersection. They MUST be at least 200′ (see FDOT Design Standard #17344) again, most are not. See City Resolution 2010-342. The School Zone must comply with that Resolution. SPPD wrote 89% of school zone tickets in Pinellas County in 2013 – 225% more than ALL law enforcement in Hillsborough County. It is time to shut them down!

Female spotter on the sidewalk across from Thurgood Marshall Middle School, too cold for her this morning to wear her Steelers t-shirt (you’ve seen her across Gibbs High School many times). All those Moms dropping off their kids at school had it coming, I feel so much safer now. Because that’s exactly where the bad guys drive, at 8 in the morning in a school zone. Could we at least do away with the “safety” excuse and just have a sign that says “Your City PD needs money for their unions”.
