Atlanta, Georgia Speed Traps
I-85S just after North Druid Hills exit
I’ve seen cops hanging out underneath North Druid Hills, close to the on-ramp. Almost got pulled over once, but the cop went after the guy in front of me.
Roswell Rd. between Mt. Paran and Belle Isle Rds
Police park in private driveways or on side of road. Various vehicles being used (Pick up Truck, Patrol Cars, Blazer, and motorcycles. Target time was primarily morning rush hour, now it has changed to all day.
Shallowford and Briarcliff, near I-85
Heading east on Shallowford towards I-85, there is a school zone at the intersection with Briarcliff. The speed limit drops from 45 to 25 for a short distance, and the cops are waiting under the 45 sign with a radar.
Sheridan Road coming from Cheshire Bridge going toward Briarcliff
posted 25 mph on a good two lane road with commercial on it and can clearly support higher speeds. Patrol car is at entrance to office park on left going from Cheshire Bridge to Briarcliff and as you go down a steep hill, will clock you. Since 25 is too slow for the conditions anyway, as you pick up speed on the downslope of the hill, you will exceed 25 easily. There was one patrol car and two motor cycle cops waiting that day and they pulled over a driver behind me also.
I-285 NB on the West Side, about one half mile north of the I-20 – I-285 interchange
Georgia State Patrol using LIDAR to catch speeders coming off entrance ramp to overcome trucks. Usually sits on far right hand median, shooting LIDAR across traffic to Lane 1 or 2. Tickets are handed over to City of Atlanta even though it is Cobb County. My fine was $315 for 27 MPH over in a 55.
