Jasper, Georgia Speed Traps
Refuge Road near Stephens View Drive
I’m not sure if it’s still like this, but I used to live in this area, and at any random time of day there would be a road block checking for speeders, and uninsured/unlicensed drivers.
State Highway 515 near Bargain Barn
Usually the city police will hang out in the median around Bargain Barn/Lawson Chevrolet/Camp Road between 8PM-11PM.
I haven’t seen them in a while probably because they’re eating at the Waffle House at the time I’ve been coming through, but maintain the 55 posted speed limit and you’ll be okay.
State Highway 515 near State Highway 108
Jasper police are out and about on highway 515 any time of day or night just north of the intersection with highway 108. They sit in the middle of side street intersections and also along side the highway. At night they park at an angle making it difficult to identify them by there emblems on the car until you are nearly next to them.
State Route 53 near Bell Street Crossing
North Bound on Rt53 toward downtown Jasper. Police hiding behind 5 foot cement retaining wall with Laser. Speed limit (they claim) is 40 mph. Normal speed would be 45 to 50 mph.
State Highway 515 near State Highway 53
Going South on S.R. 515 Between S.R. 53 in Jasper, GA and the Racetrack Gas Station, the area turns rural and a reasonable driver would assume speed limit went back to 65 mph. Very few accidents on this stretch but GSP uses it as apple orchard instead of being further south where Atlanta traffic is out of control. P.S. I have never received a traffic ticket, but this area is such an obvious trap!
