Suwanee, Georgia Speed Traps

Suwanee PD frequently has units running laser both east & westbound on L’ville Suwanee Rd from Zaxbys to City Hall. This is a downhill section of L’ville Suwanee near Sharon Ind Way where you can easily go faster than the posted limit.

Suwanee has changed the speed limit on Peachtree Industrial from 55mph to 45mph for the stretch that goes through Suwanee.

This exit runs parallel to I-85 with separate exit ramps for Old Peachtree Rd. & Sugarloaf Pkwy. When you take the exit, there is a speed limit sign in about 1/4 mile dropping the speed limit to 55. The sign is at the bottom of an incline which you hit the top of in about another 1/4 mile. The Gwinnett County Police sit about another 1/4 mile beyond this point and clock you with the radar gun just as you come over the incline, & then wave you over onto the median to give you a ticket. The latitude & longitude of where the cops sit at is: 34.004271, -84.072963. I have seen them there at various days/times, but Thursdays seems to be their favorite; that’s the day of the week they got me.

My favorite revenue raising scheme of the Suwanee Police force? The corner of Moore Road and Short street–failure to come to a complete stop. This is an isolated T-intersection –woods on the westbound side, an abandoned delapidated home on one corner and an unoccupied farmhouse set way back of the road on two of the other corners. Seriously thinking that going back to having some sort of troll stop folks for money would be more beneficial for the city–and more entertaining–and it wouldn’t make auto insurance increase.

Suwanee has temporarily lost their golden goose laser guns so they are making up lost revenue any way they can. Be aware they are running traffic stakeouts looking for:
not coming to a complete stop on red before turning right.
changing lanes without a signal.
moving into a turn lane to early
and anything else they can come up with to get a dollar.
