State Highway 138 near Exit Number I-85 Exit 64

Union City, GeorgiaJul 09, 20070 Comments

The section of Highway 138, from the exit ramp of Exit 64 to Pep Boys has a low speed limit. The Union City police will enforce this section rigidly when the town is low on revenue, which seems to be about once a month. Beware!

State Highway 14 near Stonewall-Tell Road Road

Roosevelt Hwy in South Fulton County has the weirdest Speed Laws around. As you leave College Park, going southbound, the speed limit gradually increases from 25mph to 55mph then as you enter Union City they drop down to 35mph then begin to increase again as you leave Fairburn to 55mph then as you enter Palmetto they drop back down to 25mph, the reverse going northbound. Union City, Fairburn, Palmetto, and Fulton County Police hang out at all decreasing Speed Limit Signs throughout the day because trafic is usually try to zip through at 65+

I-85N mile 64 at SR 138

Union City has less than 2 miles of I-85 within it’s city limits. Cops work in tandem on the northbound side (going towards Atlanta), sitting on the right side of the highway just past the crest of a hill. Enforcement is selective, since everyone travels above the posted speed of 65. Just try not to stand out from the pack. Motorcyclists are especially targeted.

I-85 exit 66 in front of the Phillips 66

If you pull off the interstate to go to the Phillips 66, the station is just inside a school zone, and you come around a corner and see the sign, and the cop. Plus, if you speed in a school zone, they expect you to appear in court, even if you are out of state.
