Carpentersville, Illinois Speed Traps
Williams Road near Lake Marian Road
The cars are sitting in the parking lots between the company buildings. The surrounding area is very wooded on both sides of the road and one is also blinded by the outside company lamps that stick out of the buildings’ corners, so one can’t see until it is too late. The speed limit used to be 35 for a long time, now it is 30. The trap is enforced primarily after 6-7 pm into the late hours when it is easy to catch a speeder, although during the day too.

Helm Road near State Highway 25
Helm Road is a short cut between Illinois State Routes 62 and 25. If you turn north onto Helm Road off of 62 the speed limit drops from a reasonable 55mph to a ludicrous 25mph on Helm. Officers from two municipalities set speedtraps on Helm at differfent locations. The first probable trap you will encounter will be Barrington Hills PD. They like to sit off of the road near some power lines. Since the road is heavily wooded on both sides you will not see them until it is too late. The second trap, hosted by Carpentersville PD, is down Helm Road about one-half a mile. The wooded area ends at the bottom of a hill, the police stake out a church parking lot shortly thereafter. Again, once you see them it is too late.
