Chicago, IllinoisJan 26, 20070 Comments

South bound on 294 in between I57 and 159th street 4:00 a.m. Photo enforcement shooting south bound traffic. There was a sign posting Speed Zone and 300 feet beyond was marked 45mph. This cop was doing selected photo enforcement he was 150 feet just past the speed zone my speedo read 55 and the marker on the back of the Van was posting 60 other cars where doing 60 and he wasn`t taking photos he was very slective on who he was ticketing. I got turned around and he had moved after I made the comment at the toll booth about not having a chance to slow down and that he was way before the contruction zone. See any photo type flashes going off down the road it’s the IL State Police.

Lake shore drive around montrose and from North ave to randolph I have often seen CPD, and caution speed limit is only 40 and is extremly easy to go way faster than that.

Cumberland Avenue near Addison Street

A Chicago Police officer stands in the middle island of Cumberland or on the west side of the street on the edge of the forest preserve and clocks cars with a handheld Radar POP unit. During the time of the trap (usually in the PM rush hour) there will be anywhere between 3 and 8 uniformed police cars ready to pick up and ticket. The uniformed cars line up in an alley just North of Addison street. 2 pick up cars (one northbound and one south bound) sit on the shoulder of cumberland just South of Addison. I have seen up to 7 cars pulled over at one time in this trap.

Cumberland Avenue near Irving Park Road

Chicago, IllinoisNov 29, 20060 Comments

Heading south on Cumberland (IL-171) after Irving Park road. One cop sits in the grass next to the forest or in the median and zaps anyone going down the road. Anyone caught going 5-10 or more over the limit of 35 is pulled over and ticketed by a chase car. Typical hours are Evening rush hour to Late evening. Enforcement occurs on most nights. Also if going North beware as the chase cars can zap you as well.

Forest Preserve Drive near Addison Street

I’ve seen this on average 1-2 times a week, mainly weekends and holidays. The end of the month is extremely treacherous. This is a crazy intersection, and this goes both ways. They will pull you over if you speed (don’t remember the speed limit now, since I don’t take this road to work anymore, I think it’s 30), and they will ticket you. I have seen upwards of 10 people getting pulled over at once. There’s usually two alpha cops, radar in hand (one for each direction). Cops are lined up all along the apartment buildings on the northeast side of the intersection, ready to respond to a call. Watch out after the intersection, I garuntee you there will be more. Luckily the first time I saw this, my radar informed me well ahead of time. Also, don’t speed down Montrose near there.
