Danville, Illinois Speed Traps
Interstate 74 near Mile Marker 210-195
A DOT cop likes to sit at the 210 and pull placard(hazmat) vechiles over….(they will usally wait until you get to the rest area a few miles down the road and DOT inspect you)also there is a lady bear at the 196 at night taking pictures. Rule of thumb is either slow down or turn your ears on.
State Route 1 near Lyon’s Road
Technically in Belgium, south of Danville. The police like to sit in the Belgium Hall praking lot. I’ve seen countless people pulled over there. not only is there a stoplight, it also goes from 45 mph to 40 mph southbound.
Interstate 74 near Bowman Avenue
Cops sit atop the hill leading onto Interstate 74 from Bowman Avenue. They usually radar westbound traffic, but occasionally they will hit the eastbound side. The speed limit is official 65mph, but they often switch it to 55mph for some unknown reason (no road work).
Liberty Lane near StoneGate Housing Complex
After turning West onto Liberty Lane from Bowman, you go over a small hill (about 1 mile?), the Danville Police cars are setting in the Stonegate entrance on the South side of the road. There is a 35MPH sign after that, there is probably a sign before, but I didn’t see it. Before you get to StoneGate, it used to be 45MPH (before the Stonegate complex was added). No exits of any kind are on the road before Stonegate.
North Vermilion, (RT 1)
They usually sit on East Roselawn, just far back enough that you cannot see them when you are driving on Rt. 1 (Vermilion Street). You can’t talk them out of the ticket either because they ALWAYS say they have to make an example for the public to see.
